Pakistan will be the first South Asian country to test 5G

Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman has said that Pakistan will be the first South Asian country to test 5G cellular services for Fifth Generation for fast connectivity.

5G is the fifth generation of cellular networking and next step in mobile technology. It would make our current 4G LTE networks as slow and irrelevant as 3G data seems now. 5G is the key to unlocking blazing-fast internet speeds that may range from gigabits to tens of gigabits.

Rahman said on Tuesday, “Pakistan has recently won GSMA Awards and has been ranked third in the list of mobile telecom operator groups.” The government is working on a project, under which every 100 consumers in every village by 2030 For at least one mobile tower will be arranged.

Rahman said that the information technology is getting a lot of boost in the country and the penetration of broadband has increased from three to 27 percent in the last two years. They said, “We are trying to build a digital Pakistan.”

In India, Nokia has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airtel and BSNL. Nokia Head of Market (India) Sanjay Malik said, “The purpose of these MoUs is to bring 5G here. What things are needed for him, it will be seen. Those apps will be identified, which can be useful for target audiences. This is the initial work for entry in 5G.
